Description

WD Sentinel DX4000 or RX4100 Drive Enabler allows users to replace a failed drive with a drive not on the recommended list.

Best practices for replacement drives in a RAID configuration is to match the drive as close as possible. For example, if the failed drive specifications are 7200 RPM, 64 MB cache, SATA III, 4TB, the replacement should have the same specifications.

Instructions

1. Verify that your client computer and WD Sentinel are on the same network.
2. A restart on the WD Sentinel will be necessary after the WDSentinelDriveEnabler completes the update.
3. From your client computer download WDSentinelDriveEnabler.zip.
4. Extract WDSentinelDriveEnabler.exe from the zip file.
5. Open a network browser and copy the extracted file WDSentinelDriveEnabler.exe to any accessible share on the WD Sentinel.
6. Open Windows Remote Desktop Client and connect to the WD Sentinel using the IP address displayed on the front LCD panel.
   
7. Once you are logged in to the WD Sentinel, open Windows file browser and navigate to D:\ServerFolders\{sharename}
   
8. Double click on WDSentinelDriveEnabler to launch the tool.
9. Click on the WDSentinelDriveEnabler prompt.
   
10. After the tool completes, click on the next prompt to restart the WD Sentinel.
    
11. Exit Windows Remote Desktop Client and after the WD Sentinel reboots, the update is complete.
