Reset Button Location
The pin button on the back of a My Cloud can be used to perform a 4 or 40 second reset.
4 Second Reset (with Power On)
A 4 second pin press will reset the:
- Admin Password (no default password)
- Network Mode (default = DHCP)

4 Second Pin Reset Steps
- Power on the My Cloud.
- Press and hold the reset button with a paperclip or pin for at least 4 seconds.
The drive will reboot and may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
Wait until the Power LED is solid blue and in a ready to use state. - Setup using the dashboard.

40 Second Reset (with Power Off)
A 40 second pin press will reset the:
- Admin User Name (default = “admin”)
- Admin Password (no default password)
- Device Name (default = “WDMyCloud”)
- SSH (Secure Shell) on Firmware 04.xx.xx-xxx, User Name and Password (default = "root" and "welc0me")
- SSH (Secure Shell) on Firmware 2.xx.xxx, User Name and Password (default = "sshd" no default password, new password enforced)
- Remove all Users except Admin
- All Share permissions (default = Public)
- Automatic Firmware Update (default = off)
- Network Mode (default = DHCP)
- Remove all Alerts
- mycloud.com account association (default = not configured)
- Mobile app account association (default = not configured)
- WD Sync association (default = not configured)
- Backup jobs (default = not configured)
- Safepoint jobs (default = not configured)
40 Second Pin Reset Steps
- Power off the My Cloud.
- Remove the power cord from the drive.
- Press and hold the reset button with a paperclip or pin.
DO NOT release the button yet. - Connect the power cord to the drive.
Press the reset button for at least 40 seconds. - Release the reset button after 40 seconds.
The drive will reset and may take up to 15 minutes to complete.
Wait until the Power LED is solid blue and in a ready to use state. - Setup using the dashboard.
