Description
The zipped file contains the source code for third party copyrighted software licensed under the GNU General Public License ("GPL"), which software may be used in WD TV Play. A copy of the GPL may be found below or at http://www.gnu.org/.

Instructions
  1. Download the .zip file.
  2. Extract the .zip file, and locate the compiled firmware directory. It will be in the form: year_month_day_fwversion (Eg: 2012_12_21_FW_version)
  3. Put the GPL Firmware (wdtvstreamer.bin, wdtvstreamer.ver and wdtvstreamer.json) onto a USB drive.
  4. Boot up your WDTV Play device, and wait until the Home UI screen appears. Insert your USB drive.
  5. Once the "New Firmware Available" popup is present, press the "OK" button to upgrade the firmware.
    Note: If the firmware version is not greater than your current version (.ver file), the system will not detect the new firmware.
  6. You will know that you have successfully installed the GPL FW if you do not see any apps on the Home UI page, and only News Feed within All My Apps.
