Learn when to use a SecureConnect SATA cable with or without a cover.*END
The SATA hard drive is not seen by the system after installed with a SecureConnect SATA cable.
This happens because the cable does not supply power to the hard drive.
Western Digital has two different SecureConnect SATA cables.
SecureConnect Cable with Cover
This version of the cable covers the SATA power port to provide stability.
A legacy Molex power cable must be used to supply power to the drive.
A SecureConnect cable without the cover must be used if the drive does not have a Molex port. |
SecureConnect Cable without Cover
This version of the cable does not cover the SATA power port.
A regular SATA power cable can be used.
