Use of this software requires download and installation to a system connected to at least one of the compatible Western Digital (WD, SanDisk, G-Technology) storage products. When using with the My Cloud NAS products, the software must be running from an operating system on the same local network.

Acronis True Image for Western Digital will only backup files and folders physically stored on the local drive. It will not backup or pull data hosted remotely in Cloud Services such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive.


WD Backup is easy-to-use backup software that protects files, photos, and documents to a WD drive. It can restore previous backups to your computer from a Full or Incremental backup job. WD Backup rescans Windows for new or changed files and resumes automatic backup protection per the schedule.


Back Up Files

  1. Start WD Backup on Windows.

  2. Click Back up Files or Add Backup Plan.

  3. Select a backup destination.
    Click Next.

  4. Click Edit Schedule to change the schedule.

  5. Select a Schedule. (eg. hourly, daily, or monthly)
    The week, day, or time can also be adjusted when daily or monthly is selected.
    Click OK.

  6. Click Edit Files to select specific files or folders.

    WD Backup will back up the files and folder for the User who is signed into Windows by default.
    Place a checkmark on any file or folder to include them in the backup.
    Click OK.

  7. Click Start Backup.

Some files are skipped by WD Backup on purpose.
