My Cloud: Changing the RAID Mode


STOP Critical:
The instructions in the article are designed to help change the RAID on a My Cloud or Network Attached Storage device. This process is Data Destructive and cannot be undone. Once the process begins, ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE WILL BE LOST!
Ensure to create a backup or copy the content to another storage device or location before changing the RAID mode if the data on the My Cloud needs to be maintained.

Changing the RAID on a My Cloud Personal Cloud or Network Attached Storage device


My Cloud models ship pre-configured with the following default RAID modes.

  • Single Bay Model - does not support RAID
  • Diskless 0TB Model - shipped without drives. User must provide drives and configure RAID.
  • 2-Bay Model - pre-configured with RAID 1
  • 4-Bay Model - pre-configured with RAID 5
