Critical: The instructions in the article are designed to help change the RAID on a My Cloud or Network Attached Storage device. This process is Data Destructive and cannot be undone. Once the process begins, ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE WILL BE LOST! Ensure to create a backup or copy the content to another storage device or location before changing the RAID mode if the data on the My Cloud needs to be maintained. |
Changing the RAID on a My Cloud Personal Cloud or Network Attached Storage device
My Cloud models ship pre-configured with the following default RAID modes.

My Cloud 2-Bay Model
- Log in to the Dashboard using the Admin credentials. If the Admin does not have a password, click on Login (the password field will be blank). For instructions please refer to Answer ID 27432: How to Access the My Cloud OS 3 Dashboard
- Once in the Dashboard, select Storage on the top right.
- Choose RAID on the left panel then select Change RAID Mode located below RAID Volume.
- A warning message will appear stating that this process can interrupt any file transfers to or from the device. When ready, click OK to continue the process.
- Select the desired RAID mode and click on the checkbox. click Next to continue.
- A drive test will begin. Once it completes and the status appears as Good, click Next.
- An option will appear allowing the drives to be encrypted. Click Next after choosing the preferred option.
- A summary of the chosen configurations will display to make sure the desired options were selected. Click Next to proceed to the final confirmation message.
- When ready to re-format the drives to change the RAID, click Finish.
- The final message will provide information of the formatted drives and which RAID they are now in. Click Close to complete the process.
My Cloud 4-Bay Model
