Troubleshooting the My Passport Cinema
Either the One Connect box or the Evolution Kit box will be necessary in order to use the My Passport Cinema. These external boxes need to be registered with an FandangoNow account.
One Connect
Evolution Kit
Below are instructions needed to setup the My Passport Cinema.
- Connect the My Passport Cinema to the USB 3.0 port on the One Connect box or the UHD Evolution Kit.
- There is one USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the boxes.
- The My Passport Cinema is supported only when no other USB drive is connected to the One Connect or Evolution Kit boxes.
- Once the My Passport Cinema is connected, navigate to My Apps on the TV, and select the FandangoNow app. It will download, if needed, then proceed to launch the FandangoNow application.
- When the FandangoNow application opens, a list of movies that can be streamed or watched from the My Passport Cinema will be displayed. If using the 2014 One Connect box to watch an HDR movie, the following message will display: In order to playback this title in UHD with HDR, you will need to purchase a Samsung Evolution Kit SEK 3500U. In the meantime, selecting “Watch now” you will be able to enjoy a Blu-ray HD quality.
The current firmware on a 2014 TV using a Connect One box is 1270, but it also works with 1260. As for the 2015 TV (SEK 3500U), the current firmware is 1219.

What displays when the My Passport Cinema is connected to the Connect One or the Evolution Kit boxes
Once the My Passport Cinema is connected and the TV is powered on, a blue screen will show displaying the following:
- Device Connected.
- The device name, WD AV SCSA XXXX.
- A message stating Would you like to look through your files?
Viewing the pre-loaded media from here will not be possible, and the drive may appear with no media content available. This is because the pre-loaded media must be accessed via the FandangoNow application on the TV. On the Would you like to look through your files? message, select No, and proceed to the FandangoNow application.
If the TV does not have the HDR support, one of the screens below will appear. The pre-loaded titles can still be watched in Blu-ray quality. In order to make the TV HDR compatible, the Connect One box will need to be replaced for an Evolution Kit SEK 3500U.
