Steps to Change a Drive Letter in Windows

Windows will automatically assign a drive letter.
Drive letters can be changed using Disk Management.

 

Windows 11 and 10

 
  1. Right-click the Start button.

  2. Click Disk Management.

  3. Right-click a drive to change the drive letter.
    Select Change Drive Letter and Paths...

  4. Click Change.

  5. Select a new drive letter.

  6. Click Yes.

    IMPORTANT:

    Disk Management will display a warning Some programs that rely on drive letters might not run correctly.
    Check other programs and change the drive letter to the new one..

  7. Confirm the drive letter was changed.
