Password Protected Unlock Prompt Not Displayed for a WD My Book

Description

There is no prompt to unlock the drive after a password is set on a WD My Book.

The WD My Book models below:

• will not mount or be seen in Windows Explorer or macOS Finder until unlocked.
• do not support WD Unlocker VCD and are not seen by WD Security.
• does not auto unlock after a computer reboot.

Resolution

1. Download and install WD Discovery or WD Drive Utilities.

3. Start WD Discovery or WD Drive Utilities and unlock the drive.
