Note:
  • Enabling Port forwarding rules on a My Cloud device allows access to the My Cloud device from an external network. By default there are no port forwarding rules defined on the My Cloud device. My Cloud provides the cloud access functionality which allows the user to access the content remotely through My Cloud Mobile App or Mycloud.com.
  • Port forwarding rules allow access to the My Cloud device from an external network. Make sure your user accounts are password protected.
  • Instructions listed below are not applicable to a My Cloud with firmware 4.xx.xx
  • Setting up Port Forwarding requires access to the Dashboard of the My Cloud
  • For assistance with accessing the dashboard, please see: Answer ID 10420: HOW TO ACCESS THE DASHBOARD

For assistance configuring Cloud Access, please see: Answer ID 14988: How to obtain a Cloud Access account on a My Cloud device

Note:
For port forwarding rules to work without additional configurations
  1. The router must support UPnP and it should enabled.
  2. The network should be single NAT.

Configuring the Router (If UPnP is not supported or Double NAT)

For assistance with UPnP please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or router manufacturer. If the router does not support UPnP please contact your ISP or router manufacturer to configure manual port forwarding on the router. Alternatively, you can goto https://portforward.com and select your router's brand and model number to get instructionson how to configure port forwarding on your router.

Double NAT

Double NAT is when you have multiple routers in your setup. Example My Cloud is connectedto Router 1 and Router 1 is connected to Router2.

In this case – the port forwarding rules need to be setup on both router1 and router2.

Example of Double NAT:
