My Passport Wireless: Not Detected by NAS, Router, DVR or My Cloud

My Passport Wireless mobile app for iOS and Android is now in the Limited Updates phase. During this phase, bug fixes, updates for new features, and OS compatibility patches may stop, but Western Digital will continue to provide security updates for the app to address critical issues.

My Passport Wireless or My Passport Wireless Pro are not detected when connected via USB port on a NAS, Router, DVR system or a My Cloud.
My Passport Wireless device(s) are formatted in exFAT by default. NAS, Routers and DVR systems that do not support exFAT may not recognize the device.

Resolution


1. Please refer to the NAS, Router or DVR system user guide or contact the manufacturer to determine if exFAT is supported by their device.

2. If the device does not support exFAT, the My Passport Wireless or Pro can be reformatted to NTFS, FAT32 or HSF+ they are supported by your device.

STOP Critical:
The instructions are designed to help repartition and format a hard drive. This process is Data Destructive and cannot be undone. Once the process begins, ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE WILL BE REMOVED!
