Use of this software requires download and installation to a system connected to at least one of the compatible Western Digital (WD, SanDisk, G-Technology) storage products. When using with the My Cloud NAS products, the software must be running from an operating system on the same local network.
Acronis True Image for Western Digital will only backup files and folders physically stored on the local drive. It will not backup or pull data hosted remotely in Cloud Services such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive.

Please follow the instructions below, in order to view or access files backed up, using WD SmartWare 2.0 or higher, or WD Backup:
IMPORTANT: Always remember that "backup" is to have the data stored in at least two (2) locations. Moving data from the system drive to an external hard drive is not a backup, unless there is already a duplicate of the file on a different drive.

- Type File Explorer in the Windows search box to open your My Book or My Passport drive.
- By default, WD SmartWare creates a folder named WD SmartWare.swstor. Double click the WD SmartWare.swstor folder.
- For My Cloud drives open the SmartWare share and then the WDSmartWare.swstor folder.
- Double click the following Computer name folders.
Your computer’s name: Each computer backed up by WD SmartWare will create a sub-folder by the name of the computer. - Double click the Volume folder.
Volume: Smartware backup software recognizes each backed up drive as a volume. - Double click Users folder.
- Double click the User Name.
- Copy and paste desired User folder(s) to the computer, or another storage location of your choice.
