My Passport Wireless mobile app for iOS and Android is now in the Limited Updates phase. During this phase, bug fixes, updates for new features, and OS compatibility patches may stop, but Western Digital will continue to provide security updates for the app to address critical issues.

Description


Cannot connect to wifi 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz channels using Moto G3 or G4 using Android 6.0.1.


Motorola G3 and G4 mobile Android devices are unable to connect to My Passport Wireless Wifi Channels noted below:

  • My Passport Wireless 2.4 GHz
  • My Passport Wireless Pro 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
  • My Passport Wireless SSD 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz

Resolution


The local LAN can be used to connect to My Passport Wireless devices using the mobile app.

  • Power ON the My Passport Wireless drive
  • Connect to My Passport Wireless or My Passport Wireless Pro wifi using your Mac, PC or iOS device
  • Access the dashboard using a Web Browser
    For assistnace accessing the dashboard, please refer to Answer ID 19786: Steps to Access the Dashboard on My Passport Wireless
  • Select the WiFi Tab
  • Turn ON WiFi Networks
  • Select your Router and enter the username and password
  • Select the "Shared" option if prompt
  • Connect your mobile device to your local LAN wifi network
  • Open the My Cloud App and you should be able to access your My Passport Wireless pro using the LAN IP address
