My Passport Wireless mobile app for iOS and Android is now in the Limited Updates phase. During this phase, bug fixes, updates for new features, and OS compatibility patches may stop, but Western Digital will continue to provide security updates for the app to address critical issues.

Wireless data transfer speeds decrease when transferring data using a Windows Surface Pro and the My Passport Wireless Pro Web UI dashboard is open in a web browser.


Hardware interoperability issues can cause degraded Wi-Fi data transfer speeds.


Resolution


The following solutions are available,

  • Close the My Passport Wireless Pro dashboard when transferring data with the Windows Surface Pro.
  • Use a 3rd party Wi-Fi USB stick on the Windows Surface Pro if having the My Passport Wireless Pro dashboard open is mandatory while transferring data.
