How to Fix Missing Shares in My Cloud Dashboard



Description


Shares are missing from the Dashboard.
They cannot be seen in Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.


The Samba config file does not match the shares on My Cloud.
Shares do not show up after a reboot.


Resolution


IMPORTANT:

Get a System Report before doing a System Only Restore.

Steps for Windows


  1. Login to the Dashboard.

  2. Enable SSH.

  3. Access SSH.

  4. Login using sshd.
    Press Enter.
    Enter SSH password.
    Press Enter.

      The password text will not appear.

Check For Shares


Copy and Paste the command into the SSH console.
Press Enter.


ls -la /shares/


    Check the symbolic links to the physical data shares.

    My Cloud may require a system-only restore if the links to the shares are not there.

Check Mount Points


Copy and Paste the command into the SSH console.
Press Enter.


ls -la /mnt/HD/HD*

or

ls -la /mnt/HD/HD_a2


    Shares should be listed under the drive volume.

    Data Recovery will be required if the drive volume is not there.

Recreate Shares


  1. Login to the dashboard.

  2. Create the shares EXACTLY as they were seen in the Putty output.

    Share names are case sensitive.


    • Click Shares.

    • Click Add a Share.

    • Enter Share name.

      Click Apply.

  3. Check if the recreated shares are shown on Windows.

Check Drive Errors


Copy and Paste the command into the SSH console.
Press Enter.

dmesg




  • Check the warranty if there are drive errors.

  1. Login to the dashboard.

  2. Enable SSH.

  4. Click Go
    Click Utilities.

  5. Click Terminal.

  6. Type ssh sshd@IP Address
    Press Enter.
    Enter SSH password.
    Press Enter.

  7. Check for Share Folders


    Copy and Paste the commands into the SSH console.

    cd /
    Press Enter.


    ls
    Press Enter.


    cd /share/
    Press Enter.


    ls
    Press Enter.


      Shares should be listed under the drive volume.

      Data Recovery will be required if the drive volume is not there.
