This article explains how to Migrate a RAID 1 to a RAID 5 by adding drives to the My Cloud.*END

When adding two additional drives to the 4 bay My Cloud, the current 2 drive RAID 1 mirror can be migrated to a 4 drive RAID 5 without data loss. IMPORTANT:
The following conditions must be met prior to Performing the RAID Migration form a RAID 1 to RAID 5:
- RAID Volume Encryption is not Supported.
- The drives must be erased and cannot be used or contain any data, formatting or RAID signatures.
To level format or write zero to hard disk, please refer to Answer ID 10850: How to Fully Erase, Low-Level Format, or Write Zeros on a Drive. - There must be at a minimum of 33% Free Space on the RAID 1 Volume.
- DO NOT access the data until the migration process is complete.
- Use Scan Disk to check and repair the file system, if needed, on all volumes before starting the process. For instructions, please refer to Answer ID 30057 My Cloud Scan Disk File System Check and Repair

- Access the Storage menu on the dashboard and click on Change RAID Mode button
- A warning notice will appear, click OK to continue
- Check the box for Migrate to RAID 5 and Click Next
- A warning notice will appear, click OK
- The added drives will go through a self test
- When the self test is completed, click Next
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- The My Cloud with prepare the drives
- Click Close
- The migration process will begin and a progress bar will appear
IMPORTANT:
"Migrate to RAID5" button would not be presented if the migration is not possible
