Policy for Replacing Circuit Board or Parts for an Internal Drive


Western Digital does not provide details about:

  • How the product is made
  • Assembly process
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Supplier vendors
  • Electronic schematics
  • Specs outside what is shown in data sheets

IMPORTANT:
  • WD does not sell circuit boards.
  • WD does not provide help to remove the controller card on a drive.
  • Each controller is tuned to it's hard drive and should never be altered.
  • Changing a controller card will void the warranty on the drive.

A third-party data recovery service can be used if there is data that needs to be saved.

The drive can be replaced if it is under warranty.
