Enable Recycle Bin on a Share Folder


  1. Access the Dashboard.

  2. Click Shares.

  3. Click desired Share Folder.
    Turn Recycle Bin ON.

The Recycle Bin is located at the share level named Recycle bin - Volume_1.


EXAMPLES:
  • Recycle Bin turned on for the Public share located on Volume_1.


  • Recycle Bin is turned on for the Public share on Volume_1 and for the Private share on Volume_2.

IMPORTANT:
  • The Recycle Bin is supported for Windows (Samba) SMB files accessed with File Explorer.
  • It is not a supported on macOS.
    Files can be seen tough.
  • Files deleted in the Mobile and Web app are permanently deleted.
  • It can be seen in Windows Explorer and macOS Finder using the Samba (SMB) or the hostname and IP address of the My Cloud.
    • \\Hostname\Recycle Bin - Volume_1
    • \\IP-Address\Recycle Bin - Volume_1
  • Recycle Bin is not shown in the Dashboard.
  • Share permissions are Read/Write and cannot be changed.
  • Users will not see deleted files if they do not have permission to access the share where files were deleted from.

    EXAMPLES:
    User1 deletes a file from a Private Share that User2 cannot access.
    User2 can still see the Recycle Bin but won't see the deleted file.

    User1 deletes a file from a Public Share that User2 also has access.
    Only User1 will see the deleted file(s) in the Recycle Bin.
