Warranty on Hard Drives Originally Sold With non-WD systems

Western Digital (WD) sells hard drives to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)'s such as Dell, Compaq, Apple, HP, DVR manufacturers, etc. OEMs purchase these drives without warranty from WD at a reduced cost. At that point, the hard drives become that OEM's parts, even though they still bear the WD label. The OEM as a component of their system or device would provide any warranty on the WD hard drive.

There are no physical or developmental differences between WD hard drives purchased separately or in another manufacturer's system or device.

For more information about hard drive warranties, please see our Warranty Policy.
