Please make sure show hidden files and folder is enabled. For more information please refer to Microsoft Article 14201: Show hidden files
Quit WD Discovery
- Launch WD Discovery and go to the Navigation menu (three horizontal bars next to the bullhorn)
- Click Quit in the bottom right hand corner of the app screen
- Press Control+Alt+Delete to access the Task Manager
- End the WDDiscoveryMonitor.exe process if it is still running
Increase WD Discovery Log Levels on Windows
- Navigate to the logged in user's .wdc directory
Windows: C:\Users\$USERNAME\.wdc
- Copy and paste settings.json to retain the original file in the folder (settings - Copy.json)
- Open the settings.json file with WordPad.exe and locate the Loglevel entry

"productName": "WD Discovery", - Replace the word "info" with "silly" to set the log level higher

- Start WD Discovery
- Duplicate the error condition
- Quit WD Discovery again
- Navigate to the logged in user's .wdc directory
Windows: C:\Users\$USERNAME\.wdc
- Zip the .wdc folder and send to technical support

Increase WD Discovery Log Levels on macOS

Press and hold the shift, command, and period keys to view hidden files and folders or type the following command in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
If hidden files and folders cannot be seen after using the command listed above, reboot the macOS computer. |
- Open the WD Discovery, from the upper right of the system Tray
- Click the Gear icon
- Click Quit
- Click Finder
- From the Favorites column, click the User Profile, click the .wdc folder
- Locate the settings.json file
- Press and hold the Control button on the keyboard and mouse click the settings.json file
- Hover the Mouse over Open With, click TextEdit
- Locate the "logLevel": "info",
- Replace the word "info" with "silly" to set the log level higher
- Click File, and Save
- Click the Red Circle to close
- Wait 10 minutes, Start WD Discovery
- Duplicate the error condition
- Quit WD Discovery again
- Navigate to the logged in user's .wdc directory
Mac Volume/User profile/.wdc
- Zip the .wdc folder, by holding the Control button on the keyboard and mouse click the .wdc, Choose Compress ".wdc"
- send to WD Technical Support
