My Cloud OS 3: Email Notifications Are Not Being Received

WD My Cloud uses a configuration of SMTP server settings that cannot be altered or modified.
If the email notifications are not being received, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.


Email Notifications

Verify that the email notifications are enabled and have a valid email address assigned.
My Cloud Email Notifications support up to 5 email addresses

  1. Access the My Cloud dashboard
    For assistance, please refer to Answer ID 27432 Accessing the Dashboard on a My Cloud drive
  2. Go to Settings -> Notifications
  3. Make sure the "Email Notifications" are ENABLED
  4. Click on Configuration
    Make sure the email addresses are correct and do not include typos-graphical errors.
  5. Modify the settings of Send email to All while we are troubleshooting the email messages delivery.
  6. Click on Send test email and check the email delivery

Supported Emailed Alert Codes

Actions including USB Backup does not support emailed alerts.

Client Email

Check on the local computer the SPAM or JUNK client email folders to find the My Cloud email notifications.
Check any and all email filters previously created.


Email Server and Firewall

Check the Web and email domain Servers and firewall to ensure they are not blocking or filtering the My Cloud email notifications.
Contact your network administrator or IT department for assistance.


My Cloud uses the following resources for email delivery.
Access to the Cloud mail servers is required to send My Cloud email alerts.

Address            nas.alerts@wdc.com


Domain Name Resolution

Make sure the domain server and the client's computer can solve the name-host of the My Cloud SMTP server.
Any lookup failure on the name-host will result in email delivery issues.
Contact your network administrator or IT department for assistance.
