My Cloud Home Not Recognized by Smart TV or Media Player


Issue:

The My Cloud Home is not seen by a Smart TV, Media Payer device or 3rd party Media Player Software on the network.

EXAMPLE:

In the example below, VLC on a mobile phone does not recognize the My Cloud Home because the Plex DLNA Media Server is disabled by default.

Cause:

Plex Media Server is not enabled and configured on the My Cloud Home by default.


Solution:

Enabling Plex DLNA Media Server will consume additional CPU and Memory resources on the My Cloud Home. The use of additional resources can result in a decrease in product performance. plex DLNA Media Server should only be anable when the media player client does not support Plex.

The Plex client app is supported on most SmartTV, Media Players and gaming consoles.

  1. Enable and Configure the Plex Media Server services on the My Cloud Home
