Answer ID 34991: How to Enable Local Network Access to Data on My Cloud Home Using the Dashboard with Cloud Services
Description
A username and password is asked for when connecting to My Cloud Home.
SMBv1 and NTLMv1 are NOT supported.
- SMBv1 has known security risks and may leave data open to unauthorized access.
- Devices must support Samba SMBv2 or SMBv3 to connect to My Cloud Home.
Firmware 8.12 and higher provides strong security by only allowing SMBv2, SMBv3 and NTLMv2.
This may cause connected devices to ask for a username and password.
Resolution
Consult with the maker of any Smart TV, Printer or Media Player to make sure that the latest drivers are installed.
