There are three connection types that the My Cloud Home shows in the settings menu on the web and mobile apps.
Connection types can change based on the network setup. The router should have UPnP enabled and double NAT is not recommended.

Local
Devices on the same network as the mobile or web app can talk to each other with no further help.
Direct
It talks to the internet directly using port forwarding by making adjustments to its IP Address.

Relay
A relay connection is made when a direct one can't be created.
This happens when:
- The router doesn't support port forwarding.
- The router only lets one device use port forwarding.
- The My Cloud Home and other devices are in different network.

Show Connection Type in Web App
- Go to MyCloud.com.
Click Sign into My Cloud Home.
Click Sign In. - Click Settings.
- Click My Cloud Home under CURRENT STORAGE.
View the Connection Type.
Show Connection Type in Mobile App
- Download My Cloud Home Mobile App.
- Sign into Mobile App.
- Tap the 3-line Menu icon on the upper left of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap My Cloud Home under CURRENT STORAGE.
View the Connection Type.
