How to System Erase My Cloud Home to Factory Settings


My Cloud Home can be restored to factory settings in the Web and Mobile Apps or the reset button using the System Erase function.

STOP Critical:

Performing a System Erase" is Data Destructive and cannot be undone.

IMPORTANT:

This requires the device to be connected to the Internet and to be able to communicate to the My Cloud Home servers or the System Erase will not complete.

My Cloud Home must be setup again after a System Erase must be setup again at MyCloud.com/hello.

System Erase will:

  • Delete the Device Owner.
  • Delete all Invited users.
  • Delete all content.
  • Delete all configured Services.
  • Reset the device to factory setting.
  • Inform My Cloud Home servers that a System Erase has been done.
  • Send an email to the Device Owner.
  • Can take up to 30 minutes to complete.
  • Maintain MyCloud.com Account

Web App

  1. Log into the My Cloud Home Web App.

  2. Click the 3-line Menu icon found on the upper left of the screen or open the browser in full screen.
    Click Settings.

  3. Find CURRENT STORAGE.
    Click My Cloud Home.

  4. Scroll down in the center pane.
    Click ERASE ALL DATA.

  5. Enter the 4 digit code shown on the webpage.



    Check the network cable and the Internet connection if the code is not shown.


  6. Click CONFIRM.

  7. Click ERASE ALL DATA.

The account will be logged out and this email confirmation will be sent to the account owner.

Mobile App

  1. Open the My Cloud Home Mobile App.

    My Cloud Home Android and iOS Mobile Apps can be downloaded from the following:


  2. Tap the 3-line Menu icon located on the upper left of the screen.
    Tap Settings.

  3. Find CURRENT STORAGE
    Tap the My Cloud Home.

  4. Tap Erase All Data.

  5. Tap Yes, Proceed.

  6. Enter the 4 digit code shown on the app.



    Check the network cable and the Internet connection if the code is not shown.


  7. Tap Erase All Data


The account will be logged out and this email confirmation will be sent to the account owner.

Reset Button

  1. Remove any external USB devices.

  2. Connect the network cable to the Internet router.
    My Cloud Home System Erase will not complete without an active Internet connection.

  3. Power on My Cloud Home.

  4. Wait 5 minutes to allow the system to come online.

    IMPORTANT:

    The LED must be Solid White or Slow Breathing.
    A Fast Breathing LED could indicated the lack of an IP address.


  5. Press and hold the Reset Button for 60 seconds or until the units LED starts blinking and the device powers off.

The unit will power itself on and restore back to factory default settings.
