Active Directory is a directory service technology used to provide centralized authentication and authorization services for computers and users that are joined to a Domain. Certain Western Digital My Cloud devices support joining an existing Domain.
IMPORTANT: There are prerequisites and limitaions with joining the devie to a domain. Prior to following the process below, please refer to Answer ID 6122: My Cloud Active Directory Prerequisites and LimitationsEnabling Active Directory
- Login to the Dashboard
- Navigate to Settings
- Click on Network
- Scroll down to Windows Services
- Click the toggle button next to Active Directory to enable. The Active Directory Settings screen appears.
- Enter the following information:
- User Name — Enter the Active Directory server account name
- Password — Enter the Active Directory server password
- Domain Name — Enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the Active Directory to join
- DNS Server — Enter the Domain Name System (DNS) Server IP address.
- Review the information on the screen, then click Apply.
