Data Lifeguard Diagnostics does not recognize a WD drive

Data Lifeguard Diagnostics displays an error, “Not a WD Drive”.

There are several possible causes for this problem.

Cause 1
The most common cause is using an incompatible version of Data Lifeguard Diagnostics.

Cause 2
The drive was installed with the incorrect jumpers settings, cabling, or BIOS setup configurations.

Solution 1
Use the updated Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows or Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS

Solution 2
Check the jumper settings for proper jumper settings configurations. For information on how to properly install a drive with the correct cabling and BIOS setup, please see Answer ID 981: How to physically install, set jumper settings, and set up a Serial ATA, EIDE, or SSD drive in Windows.
