Steps to Check if a Drive is 512 or 4k on Windows and macOS

Check to see if a drive is 4k (Advanced Format) or not.

Steps for Windows

1. Connect the drive..


2. Enter msinfo32 in search bar.
   Double-click System Information.


3. Click Components
   Click Storage
   Click Disks to view a list of all drives.








4. Find the drive.
   Check Bytes/Sector to see if it is 512 or 4k.

Steps for macOS

1. Connect the drive..


2. Enter terminal in search bar.
   Double-click Terminal.


3. Copy and Paste this command.
   Press the enter key on the keyboard.
   
   

   diskutil info -all
   
   



4. Find the drive.
   Check Device Block Size to see if it is 512 or 4k.
