Use of this software requires download and installation to a system connected to at least one of the compatible Western Digital (WD, SanDisk, G-Technology) storage products. When using with the My Cloud NAS products, the software must be running from an operating system on the same local network.

Acronis True Image for Western Digital will only backup files and folders physically stored on the local drive. It will not backup or pull data hosted remotely in Cloud Services such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive.


WD Backup can be configured to exclude certain folders from the backup policy to prevent backup error messages, shorten the backup windows, and to only backup restorable data sets.
WD Backup software will not provide a check box for files that are currently being used or locked, it provides a list of all the available folders/files, the user needs to configure which folders/files need to be excluded.

  1. Select Edit Files

  2. Expand the selected drive letter to display available folders

  3. Uncheck the folders and files that need to be excluded from the backup
