Windows Check Disk (chkdsk) Command
IMPORTANT:
Check Disk (chkdsk) may cause data loss. Backup all data another drive before using chkdsk.
Stopping chkdsk is not recommended. Stopping chkdsk should not leave the volume any more corrupt than it was before. Running chkdsk again should repair corruption on the volume.
chkdsk will try to repair any bad sectors. The data on the repaired sector will be lost.
- Open Command Prompt and run the Check Disk command.
Depending upon the disk size the Check Disk may take a long time to complete.
