About GoodSync
What Is GoodSync?
GoodSync provides solutions for backup, synchronization, and sharing of files. GoodSync also supports a number of operating systems, cloud storage sites, and file transfer protocols. Once installed GoodSync provides a Sync and Backup Job tool as well as a file explorer for downloading and uploading files.
What is GoodSync for Windows or macOS?
GoodSync for Windows or macOS provides a user interface to create backup or sync Jobs, create Groups to organize the Jobs, select folders to backup and synchronize from. Some of the folder options include local computer folders, Windows Shares, mobile devices, cloud storage, FTP/SFTP folders, and other devices with GoodSync installed.
What is the GoodSync File Explorer?
GoodSync File Explorer allows a user to view local and remote files, including local computer folders, Windows Shares, mobile devices, cloud storage, FTP/SFTP folders, and other devices with GoodSync installed.
What is GoodSync mobile app?
GoodSync mobile app allows a mobile devices to backup, sync, and share files to devices with GoodSync installed.

Install GoodSync App
IMPORTANT:
- Installs a 30-day trial version of GoodSync for NAS unless used with GoodSync for WD Free version.
- A GoodSync license purchase is required after the trial period has expired unless used with GoodSync for WD Free version.

Follow the steps below when installing the GoodSync app on a My Cloud.
- Open the dashboard of the My Cloud.
- Click the Apps Icon.
- Find GoodSync.
Click Install. - Click OK.
- Click GoodSync.
Click Configure. - Click Create an account.
- Check the box next to I'm not a robot.
Enter the new users information.
Click submit. - GoodSync on My Cloud setup is complete.
For further configuration click here. - Enter the GoodSync UserID or Email.
Enter the Password.
Click Sign In - The GoodSync File Server user interface provides further configuration options.
To view your GoodSync account click Manage my GoodSync Account.

An App Store Terms of Service pop up may appear, if so, click Accept. |
If you have an existing user account, enter the User ID and Password, and click Next. |
Users may note the GoodSync port number after the second colon of the IP address. |
Install GoodSync on Windows
Follow the steps below for install and use of the GoodSync app for Windows. The instructions below will guide a user to backup from a local computer to a My Cloud.

- Click New Job.
- Enter a Job Name.
- Select the Job Type.
- Click Ok.
- Click the Job.
- Click the Left Folder Icon.
- Select My Computer.
- Navigate to and Select a Folder.
- Click Ok.
- Click the Right Folder Icon.
- Select GoodSync Connect.
- Navigate to and Select a Folder. IMPORTANT: For My Cloud use the Smartware share
- Click Ok.
- Click Analyze to start the backup.

Install GoodSync on macOS
Follow the steps below when installing the GoodSync app onto macOS. The instructions below will guide a user to backup from a local computer to a My Cloud.

- Click New Job.
- Enter a Job Name.
- Select the Job Type.
- Click Ok.
- Click the Job.
- Click the Left Folder Icon.
- Select My Mac.
- Navigate to and Select a Folder.
- Click Ok.
- Click the Right Folder Icon.
- Select GoodSync Connect.
- Click Servers.
- Select the My Cloud.
- Navigate to and Select a Folder. IMPORTANT: For My Cloud use the Smartware share
- Click Ok.
- Click Analyze to start.
