My Passport Wireless mobile app for iOS and Android is now in the Limited Updates phase. During this phase, bug fixes, updates for new features, and OS compatibility patches may stop, but Western Digital will continue to provide security updates for the app to address critical issues.

Various 3rd party app(s) may open files as "Ready Only", cannot be edited and saved to a My Passport Wireless device.



Changes in Android SDK’s File Provider URI handling not being processed correctly when there is only one app installed on the mobile device that is capable of opening the specific file type.


Resolution


Select one of the options below to save files opened in a 3rd party app.


OPTION #1

Download and open the file from the Mobile app using the 3rd part apps listed below.


OPTION #2

Save the file to the mobile device and upload to the My Passport Wireless.


OPTION #3

Select "Save a copy" from the 3rd party app to overwrite the existing file in the same location on the My Passport Wireless.

IMPORTANT: Always ensure to have a "backup copy" of data in another location.
