IMPORTANT Important:
  • The default "TimeMachineBackup" share is preconfigure on all My Cloud products.
  • Content added to this share is not indexed by the My Cloud or the Twonky DLNA Server.
  • Always use the TimeMachineBackup share for macOS Time Machine backups for best performance.
  • User created Shares are indexed and thumbnailed when My Cloud and DLNA Service is enabled resulting in slow backup speeds and My Cloud performance.
  • Time Machine Encrypted backups are supported

As such, we wanted to remind customers that Time Machine is an Apple product and the best place to get support for using Time Machine is with Apple. In the event that Apple is unable to resolve your issue or determines that the issue is caused by a problem with the drive WD can assist with replacing the drive and diagnosing issues with the device.
