Every model of WD TV Media Player, including the WD Elements Play have a reset button that can be used to restore the device's configurations back to factory default. These settings can be from the video display being used, to changing the network configurations back to DHCP on a network capable WD TV. For instructions on how to reset a WD TV Media Player back to factory default settings, please follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure that the device is connected to the TV and is powered on. The unit should be at the main menu and not have any media currently displayed or playing. Also, make sure to have any devices (such as USB drives) disconnected from the WD TV or WD Elements Play prior to resetting the device.

  2. Use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button. On most WD TV units it is located on the left side of unit with power light facing you. On the WD Elements Play it is located on the back of the unit next to the Optical port. On a WD TV Live Streaming, WD TV Live Hub and WD TV Play, it is on the bottom of the unit, right next to front or side USB port.

  3. Hold in the reset button for about 4 seconds and then release it.

  4. Holding the reset button down too long (10 seconds or longer) will change the display type between NTSC and PAL.
  5. The device will cycle it's power and then come back up on the TV.

If you experience any issues after the reset, please manually Power Cycle your device.
