STOP Critical:
Do not allow power to be interrupted during the firmware update process for any reason. If the device loses power during this process, it can render your WD TV unusable. If this has occurred, the only solution is to replace your unit. Manual Update
  1. Download the appropriate firmware for your WD TV.
  2. Open the firmware update .ZIP file and extract the files (the zip file includes 3 files ending with the extensions: .BIN, .VER, and .FFF) to a USB drive's main directory.
  3. Turn the WD TV on and connect your USB drive.
  4. When you connect the USB drive, the WD TV should take you straight to a screen that says New Firmware Found, and it should be highlighted. Simply press Enter.
  5. If the WD TV Live HD Media Player or WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player does not find a valid firmware, you will go to the normal WD TV Menu. Also, you will not find any firmware update option in the menu.
  6. You will be prompted to perform the firmware update. Select OK and press ENTER. This will restart the system.
  7. After restarting, the system automatically enters firmware update mode.
  8. Once the update process is completed, the media player will restart again.
  9. You can verify that the new firmware has been installed by highlighting Settings on the main menu and pressing ENTER on your remote. Next highlight System Settings and again press ENTER on your remote. Finally select About and press ENTER on the remote
Important:
  • All 3 files must be directly on the drive, and not in a folder.
  • Do not rename either of the files.
  • The WD TV should recognize the files immediately. If not, then double check the above points, and make sure that you have firmware that's newer than what you currently have on the WD TV.
  • The firmware update can take up to 15 minutes.
