Steps to Install WD Smartware Legacy SES Drivers

SES (SCSI Enclosure Services) is used to get external drive volume info, turn on password protection and LED controls.


Current WD SES Drivers


Current WD SES Drivers are not available for download from Western Digital.
They are only available through Windows or macOS updates, WD Discovery, WD Drive Utilities, and WD Security Software.

2011 and Earlier WD Smartware Lecacy SES Drivers for Windows


IMPORTANT:


  1. Check if the computer is 32-bit or 64-bit.

  2. Download the legacy WD SES Drivers.


  3. Unzip WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x86.zip, or the WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x64.zip.

  4. WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x86.zip
    WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x64.zip


  5. Click the WD SES Driver Setup (x86).msi, or the WD SES Driver (x64) .msi file.

  6. WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x86.zip
    WD_SES_Driver_Setup_x64.zip


  7. Click Next.

  8. Image


  9. Click Next again.

  10. Image


  11. Click Install.

  12. Image


    Wait for the install to complete.

  13. Click Finish.

  14. Image


    Restart Windows before using the external hard drive if prompt to do so.
