To physically install and connect a Cloud Storage or a WD Network Attached Storage device to a home or small office network, please follow the instructions below. Please note that no special drivers need to be installed in order to access these devices.

- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port located on the back of the drive. IMPORTANT: To meet Class B emission standards, use the shielded Ethernet cable provided.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable directly into a router or network switch port.
- Connect the end of the adapter into the power supply socket located on the back of the drive.
- Plug the power adapter into a power outlet. The unit powers up automatically.
- The drive will be ready for use when the LED indicates so. LED indication for Ready to Use varies between drives as follows:
- On a My Cloud Home: When the LED is solid White.

- On a My Book World (Blue Rings) Edition I and II: The Rings are in a steady illumination.
- On a WD ShareSpace: The Power indicator is Steady Green.
- On a My Cloud Home: When the LED is solid White.
Wait for the Cloud Storage or NAS device to finish powering up (approximately three minutes) before configuring the drive. The front LED on the drive will provide knowledge of the drive being ready. |
