Steps to Get a Warranty Replacement, Power Supply, or USB Cable

Warranty Status Check

  1. Review the Western Digital Warranty Policy for WD, HGST, SanDisk, Sandisk Professional and G-Technology products.

  2. Locate the label and get the SN (Serial Number).

    IMPORTANT:

    USB flash drives, SD, microSD, CF Cards DO NOT have serial numbers.
    Skip to Step #4.


  3. Use the SN and check the drives Warranty Status.

    Network Attached Storage (NAS)
    • Single Drive Bay: The serial number of a drive from a single bay enclosure will list the enclosures model number.
    • Multi Drive Bay: The serial number of a drive from a multi-bay enclosure will list the drives model number.
  4. Login Western Digital Support Portal and create a Warranty Replacement.
    Include this with the request:

    • Place of purchase
    • Receipt and proof of purchase
    • Clear pictures of product label which has the part and serial number
    • Any other details about the product and purchase

Warranty Replacement Options

Western Digital offers two replacement options.

Standard Replacement

A replacement product will be shipped after the failed product has been received.

  • Available to End Users and Resellers worldwide
  • Maximum of 5 products per request
 

Advanced Replacement

A replacement product will be shipped before receiving the failed product. A valid credit card is required to use this service.


STOP Critical:

DO NOT send credit card information in an email!.
Provide a valid number and one of our customer care respresentives with contact you over the phone to obtain the credit card information.

  • Available to End Users and Resellers (in the U.S.A., Canada, and European Union)
  • Maximum of 1 active request at a time. (1 product per request)
  • Valid email address, phone number, and credit card required
  • There is a $25 USD fee to cover the extra costs related to Advanced Warranty Replacement order processing which permits us to ship a replacement
  • A credit card hold is placed for the retail cost of the product
  • The credit card hold is released once the product has been returned and verified
  • The credit card will be charged the retail price of the product if not received within 30 days from the date the replacement product is shipped from Western Digital


Out Of Warranty Accessory Power Supply and USB Cable Replacement

Visit the WD Store Accessories or a preferred Western Digital authorized partner to purchase a replacement USB cable or Power Supply if the product is no longer in warranty.
