Elements Play: Dolby TrueHD no Audio Sound



Description


On a WD Elements Play, when playing a video using Dolby TrueHD audio, no sound is output through the optical passthrough to the AV receiver. This occurs only when the HDMI output is set to RAW or AUTO.
The data rate is too high for the chipset on the Elements Play, when both HDMI and optical are set to RAW.

Resolution


You will need to downmix the audio to stereo. To do this, please follow the instructions below:
  1. Select Setup from the main menu.
  2. Select Audio.
  3. Select HDMI output.
  4. Select Downmix to Stereo.
