Learn About Internal Desktop Drive RAID 0 & RAID 1 Support

WD Desktop drives (WD Green, Blue, Black, and Red) have been tested and can be used for use with RAID systems when set in RAID 0 (Stripe) or RAID 1 (Mirror).

  • WD advises using a Desktop drive in a RAID array with no more than two drives.
  • WD is not able to provide technical support for setting up either hardware or software RAID.
  • Support for the RAID array can be obtained from one of these sources:
    1. The RAID controller maker.
    2. The RAID software creator.
    3. The Operating System (OS) creator.
  • Check the health of the drive before using it in a RAID array.
